Job Summary
Execute site and LSB programs through direct interactions with all personnel, driving a safety-first culture that supports stop work authority. Align core values while championing integrity and developing job aides for in-person training. Gather data to capture metrics measuring progress, success, and improvement opportunities against the annual H&S plan. Support the Safety Committee by building relationships with operations and maintenance teams, ensuring visible safety coverage across plant systems. Own areas of responsibility including safety equipment inspection, fire water systems, rail safety, and safe work permit audits. Coordinate PPE needs, manage air monitoring devices for calibration and maintenance, and support emergency response capability through training and drill execution. Close action items from audits and investigations while providing technical guidance to maintain OSHA compliance. Support site off-hours through an on-call rotation program.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a science discipline
- Associate degree with 5 years direct plant safety experience in lieu of BS
- Minimum of 2 years of Health and Safety experience in chemical or petrochemical, manufacturing, or related field
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations (29CFR1910)
- Good communication and public speaking skills
- Good computer skills, MS Office, use of Loss Prevention Software
- Successfully pass an annual physical examination
- Pass hearing screening
- Pass pulmonary functions studies
- Pass respirator fit tests
- Able to climb at least 3 flights of stairs without a break
- Able to routinely push, pull, carry, and lift twenty-five (25) pounds within a distance up to 200 feet while performing norm unit operations
- Able to climb vertical ladders, including caged ladders
- Able to work at heights more than 100 feet
- Ability to respond in high stress situations (such as unplanned plant shutdowns or evacuations) without physical impairment
