Job Summary
Monitor roadway safety for vehicle crashes, disabled vehicles, debris, and signal malfunctions while providing roadside assistance such as tire changes, battery jumps, and fuel delivery. Coordinate with Traffic Operations Center staff on incidents and work alongside first responders to manage on-scene traffic control and basic first aid. Drive a specially marked vehicle approximately 200 miles daily in various weather conditions, including cold, hot, and inclement environments. Requires high school diploma, physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, and proficiency in English with Spanish as an asset.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma (equivalent)
- Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job as outlined above
- Strong command on the English language and ability to communicate both in writing and verbally
- Must have a general working knowledge of vehicle maintenance
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work various shifts including morning, evening, overnight, weekends and holidays in a variety of weather conditions
- Ability to work diligently in a noisy environment
- Use of personal protective equipment
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingualism in Spanish is an asset
