Safety Risk Management Specialist, Safety Officer (9069)

SEPTA seeks a Safety Risk Management Specialist, Safety Officer to coordinate and support safety, health, and environmental hazard prevention across the organization. The role concentrates on one of five specialty areas—Operational Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Safety, Accident Prevention and Investigation, and/or Safety Regulatory Compliance— with responsibilities defined by current staffing needs. The position requires collaboration with management, bargaining-unit employees, and external regulatory agencies, adherence to SMS and SRM processes, hazard identification and mitigation, regulatory reporting, and the development of corrective actions. Duties include maintaining hazard logs, supporting CAPs, incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education/experience), five years of related experience, a valid driver’s license, and safety certifications (PTSCP, TSSP as applicable). The role may require non-traditional hours and a flexible schedule, with duties performed at SEPTA Headquarters or other assignment locations as needed.
