Job Summary
Safety & Risk Management Coordinator at BYU–Hawaii (part-time) supporting Campus Safety & Risk Manager with emergency planning, policy updates, training, and communications. Responsibilities include reviewing and updating emergency policies and handbooks, developing and implementing emergency action plans, coordinating training and table-top exercises, managing emergency radios during EOC setups, assisting with campus emergency and pet shelters, ensuring emergency supplies are current, creating emergency materials, interfacing with campus entities on planning, researching best practices and staying informed on state/city orders during pandemics, and assisting with safety inspections, incident investigations, and safety-program updates. Also involves supervising students, coordinating communications about changes to procedures, and contributing to safety website management; requires CPR/FA certification (or commitment to obtain), ability to work unusual hours during disasters or events, and strong communication and organizational skills. BYU–Hawaii prefers members in good standing of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with temple recommends as part of employment eligibility, and candidates must pass a background check.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 1-2 years of related emergency and safety experience
- CPR/FA certified or ability to obtain certification within 3 months
- Proficient in Microsoft Word
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Willingness to work unusual hours during disasters or special events
- Experience working with a diverse workforce
