Job Summary
Identify, assess, and mitigate hazards across construction, industrial, electrical, radiological, and hazardous-material work while supporting work planning and control through review of work packages and Job Hazard Analyses. Conduct field safety walkthroughs, observations, and readiness verifications, and participate in engineering and readiness reviews. Develop and maintain safety documentation including procedures, plans, and technical reports to support regulatory compliance and DOE oversight reviews. Investigate incidents and near misses to drive corrective actions and lessons learned, collaborating closely with internal safety, radiation protection, engineering, and facilities teams. This role supports a major DOE capital project delivering a next-generation soft x-ray light source under a one-year contract at $90/hour in Berkeley, CA.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in safety management on large construction or complex technical projects
- Familiarity with radiological, lead, industrial, and construction hazard controls
- Strong communication skills for coordinating across technical and safety teams
- Ability to work both in the field and in a planning/documentation capacity
Desired Qualifications
- Experience at DOE, nuclear, accelerator, or comparable facilities
- Ideally governed by DOE O 413.3B or similar standards
