Job Summary
Safety Manager responsible for advancing the Environmental, Safety and Health aspects of the company’s Management System at the local level. Build and define safety expectations, establish accountable processes, and drive continuous improvement with cross-functional teams. Lead and develop the local team to improve safety culture, monitor system performance, conduct audits, address gaps, and coordinate with the National Safety Team on best practices and standards. Ensure compliance with federal and local regulations, support safety-related training, document management, and management reporting. Travel locally and nationally to support safety initiatives and new equipment/product launches. Lead risk identification and reduction efforts and ensure procedures, work instructions, training requirements, and PPE specifications are established and validated at start-up. Promote safety metrics, leading indicators, and quarterly/annual reviews. Ensure hazard prevention and control methods meet or exceed industry standards with a bias toward elimination and engineering controls.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in science or engineering preferred
- 5+ years of Safety Management Experience (ideally in plastic injection molding including robotics)
- Proven ability to develop and implement processes from ground up
- Ability to manage multiple projects and experience with project management tools
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and departments
- Ability and willingness to travel locally and nationally less than 10% of the time
- Working knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and relevant state and local laws and regulations
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma tools is ideal
