Job Summary

Safety Manager leading an occupational safety and health program in a manufacturing environment. Partners with manufacturing operations to cultivate a strong safety culture, develop and implement risk management plans, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local OHS regulations. Responsibilities include championing a proactive safety culture, leading continuous improvement of health and safety processes, developing and auditing risk management and OHS training programs, deploying a corporate safety management system, reviewing equipment designs for safety, overseeing Workers' Compensation and Return-to-Work processes, conducting audits and inspections, and maintaining current knowledge of safety standards. Requires BS degree in a related field, 5+ years in health and safety, experience managing reports, and strong communication and training skills; CSP/CIH preferred; familiarity with ISO 45001/BSI 18001 and various compliance programs.

Required Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a health and safety position within the manufacturing sector
  • 1+ years of experience managing direct and/or indirect reports
  • CSP and/or CIH certification preferred
  • Experience creating, implementing, and administering a health and safety management system (BSI 18001 / ISO 45001) preferred
  • Strong data collection, analysis, and statistical skills
  • Excellent organizational and resource planning abilities
  • Proficient in developing technical compliance programs, documentation, and training materials
  • Effective teaching skills for diverse audiences
  • Proficient in MS Office, Incident Management Systems, Training Design platforms, and Internet/Intranet navigation
  • Collaborative leadership, influence, and persuasion skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interpret and apply OHS regulations
  • Strong critical thinking and project management skills
  • Demonstrated drive for results
