Job Summary
Lead safety, compliance, and employee training initiatives within the school transportation operation by promoting a positive safety culture and serving as a key resource for leadership. Implement and oversee safety programs while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. Plan, coordinate, and evaluate driver and staff training, including classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, while monitoring progress and providing performance feedback. Conduct accident and incident investigations, analyze safety data and claims, and develop corrective actions to improve operational safety. Maintain all required documentation, including driver qualification files, MVRs, and training records. Provide oversight to Safety Coordinators and Trainers, partner with leadership on safety decisions, and support company-wide safety projects.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements and any required state or local permits
- Strong understanding of transportation safety principles and regulatory compliance
Desired Qualifications
- Additional education in Safety, Transportation, Business, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of transportation safety experience
- Experience in training, compliance, investigations, or risk management
- Knowledge of federal and state safety regulations
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to analyze data and develop effective corrective action plans
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to learn and utilize transportation management and compliance software
