Job Summary
Coordinate monthly safety reporting, KPI trends, and risk assessments to drive continuous improvement in leading and lagging indicators. Chair safety and accident review committees while investigating incidents, analyzing data, and recommending corrective actions. Lead the implementation of the Safety Management System, conduct annual audits, and oversee the Drug and Alcohol Program to ensure federal compliance. Manage third-party vendors, deliver driver training courses, and plan monthly safety meetings to establish a just culture. Interpret DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations for diverse workforces and maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Must be a certified Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) bus operator trainer
- Class B Commercial Driver License
- At least 3 years' progressive transit experience with commercial class B vehicles in a fixed route transit system
- Knowledge of DOT policies, OSHA, NIMS, EPA standards and ADA requirements
- Ability to interpret and explain regulations to others
- Must have excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Possess a working knowledge of adult education principles and practices
- Possess the skills necessary to write and express oneself orally in a logical, comprehensive, and intelligent manner, as well as good organizational skills
- Possess the temperament necessary for maintaining amiable relations with various levels of company personnel
- Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word
- Must maintain confidentiality and safeguarding of sensitive material
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and a physical examination
- Must complete a background check consistent with applicable federal, state, and/or local laws
