Safety Manager - Heavy Civil Construction with AIS Infrastructure

Job Summary
Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards, perform job hazard analyses, and investigate accidents or near-miss situations with detailed reports. Collaborate with project managers to integrate safety measures into plans, provide training on safe work practices and PPE, and maintain accurate records of inspections and incidents. Monitor program effectiveness, enforce protocols consistently, and engage with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to ensure compliance. Requires minimum five years of heavy civil construction safety experience, OSHA 1926 and EM 385-1-1 knowledge, and a security clearance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety programs and site safety management of heavy civil, large infrastructure, large industrial, and/or site development construction projects
- Experience with heavy civil/horizontal construction projects involving mass excavation, grading, trenching, heavy concrete, underground utilities, etc.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to access secured facilities, including military bases
- Familiarity and experience with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards and/or EM 385-1-1 standards
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations
- Familiarity with safety management systems and software
- Strong knowledge of construction and industrial safety regulations and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees, contractors, and stakeholders
- Ability to lead and facilitate safety training sessions and meetings
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify safety hazards and develop effective solutions
- Attention to detail and ability to enforce safety protocols consistently
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with USACE and/or DOT
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field
- Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
- Construction Quality Control experience
