Safety Manager (Electric)

Job Summary
Develop and administer comprehensive safety, health, training, and regulatory compliance programs for electric operations and facilities. Conduct field audits, crew inspections, and contractor safety evaluations to identify unsafe conditions and reduce risk. Investigate accidents, vehicle incidents, and near-miss events while tracking and reporting safety performance metrics. Coordinate onboarding, recurring safety meetings, and emergency response activities during outages, storms, and disasters, including work outside normal business hours. Serve as a point person for RESAP activities and maintain all required safety records and regulatory reports. Work with vendors to manage the FR Clothing Program and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and industry standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible safety experience
- Experience in conducting incident investigations/root cause analysis
- Experience developing and delivering training programs
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA 1910.269
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 70E
- Knowledge of Arc flash mitigation
- Knowledge of switching/tagging procedures
- Knowledge of line clearance/tree trimming safety
- Knowledge of substation and overhead and underground distribution safety
- Knowledge of contractor safety oversight for electric construction
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications
- Valid Ohio Driver's License
- Ability to be insurable under the Cooperative's Liability Policy to operate company-owned vehicles
- Ability to attend training seminars
- Ability to participate in industry trade association meetings and functions
- Ability to work in a climate-controlled environment with minimal physical exertion
- Ability to travel between service centers and job sites
- Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions and difficult terrain
- Ability to perform frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting and/or carrying
- Ability to talk, hear, see, and have mental and emotional demands met
- Ability to travel to and from various job sites and office locations
- Availability to work during non-working hours which include emergencies, outages, weekends and holidays
- Ability to participate in cooperative events and facilitate public speaking engagements to provide safety education, which may occur outside normal business hours
- Ability to work during occasional overnight travel for training/conferences
- Subject to pre-employment background, physical and substance abuse testing
- Subject to random testing in accordance with the Cooperative's substance abuse policy
Desired Qualifications
- Experience preferably in an electric utility
- CUSP (Certified Utility Safety Professional)
- First Aid/CPR/AED instructor
- Completion of OSHA 30-Hour
- Completion of OSHA 500
- Completion of OSHA 510 Course
