Safety Manager

Job Summary

Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and walk-throughs to identify and resolve hazardous conditions, unsafe behaviors, and operational risks across construction sites. Manage the on-site safety team, oversee incident investigations, and coordinate with general contractors and subcontractors to lead reviews and prevent injuries. Develop and deliver training on safety protocols, including fall protection, lockout/tagout, and confined space operations, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Respond to emergencies during non-business hours as needed and accompany OSHA officers on compliance tours. This role supports the Everus 4EVER Strategy within the Casey, IL area, requiring full-time onsite presence with occasional travel.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety (or related field)
  • minimum of 3+ years' experience in construction safety
  • equivalent combination of training and related experience
  • Previous construction jobsite safety experience
  • valid driver's license

  • Must be able to frequently walk up and down stairs

  • Must be able to respond to emergencies during non-business hours
  • Must be able to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
  • Leadership and supervisory skills
  • Must be able to establish effective working relationships with project personnel including but not limited to project managers, construction superintendents, and construction foremen
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects and priorities and make sound decisions in a timely fashion
  • Ability to function in a position designed to serve independent operating units in decentralized environment
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and contribute to a team-oriented work environment
  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Thorough knowledge related to the safe operation of construction sites, including but not limited to, trenching and excavation, scaffolding, forklift operation, cranes/hoists, fall protection, signs/barricades, steel erection, hand/portable tools, confined space, and hearing conservation
  • Understands and can utilize data management tools used for analyzing construction reporting data
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Requires strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule
  • Must be able to frequently walk up and down stairs

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience with electrical construction
  • Possess a valid OSHA 500 and/or OSHA 510 designation
  • Possess a valid certificate as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Possess a valid certificate as a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP)
