Job Summary
Conduct site audits, monitor compliance against SHE policy, and investigate accidents to implement preventative controls. Lead safety awareness through toolbox talks, manage emergency teams, and develop risk assessments and standard operating procedures. Drive continuous improvement by chairing HSCC meetings, overseeing leadership training, and collating regional performance metrics for directors. Ensure environmental processes meet UK legislative requirements while coordinating waste reduction initiatives and statutory inspections. Act as the SHE lead for the nominated region across BSW Group's timber and forestry operations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in an SHE role within a Manufacturing or Logistics environment
- ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 auditing experience
- Comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety legislation
- Understanding of environmental aspects and impacts
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
- ISO Standard Internal Auditor qualification (minimum)
- Good standard of written and numerical literacy
- Ability to collate, analyse, and interpret data for trend analysis
- Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with customers and employees
- Excellent communication skills with a consultative management style
- Decisive decision-making and effective delegation
- Team-focused with strong oral, written, and presentation skills
- Effective time management and motivation to maintain site presence
- Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications
Desired Qualifications
- Ideally a qualified member of a recognised HSE professional body (e.g. IOSH)
- NVQ Level 5 H&S or NEBOSH Diploma (desired)
- IEMA Level 3 Environmental qualification or equivalent (desired)
- Fire Risk Assessment qualification (desired)
- PUWER / DSEAR awareness (desired)
