Safety Engineer

Job Summary
Lead systems engineering activities focused on safety requirements, hazard analysis, and risk mitigation across the full system lifecycle. Develop and maintain Safety Management Plans, hazard analyses, and environmental impact assessments while ensuring compliance with DoD safety standards and regulations. Integrate personal and environmental safety requirements into system architectures and designs, conducting Safety Reviews including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and System Safety Working Groups. Collaborate with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) teams to ensure regulatory compliance and mentor junior engineers on safety engineering best practices. Support proposals, design reviews, and customer interactions related to safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field
- 2+ years of job-related experience
- U.S. citizenship
- Active Secret or Top Secret clearance
- Candidate must be local to the area and able to work onsite in the Pittsfield, MA office
- Some telecommuting is allowed up to 2 days a week
- Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment
- Environmental compliance and impact assessment
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama)
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DoD safety regulations
- Strong communication and leadership skills
