Safety Coordinator - Meridian (MS) (34267)

Job Summary

Conduct daily field walks, photo-document Operational Risk Management boards, and submit Site Safety Audit reports with findings and corrective actions. Coach Crew Foremen on Job Hazard Analyses, assist with incident investigations, and perform periodic audits of power tools and equipment. Interact regularly with field personnel to address safety observations and deliver job site-specific safety orientations for new employees. This safety-sensitive position requires working day and/or night shifts, overtime, and weekends dependent on the project schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 Construction required
  • Degree or extensive training in environmental health and safety discipline
  • 1 - 3 years in construction safety experience
  • CPR/FA Certified
  • Understanding of electrical industry construction and general industry consensus standards such as NFPA, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI
  • Bi-lingual
  • Ability to work day and/or night shifts, overtime, and weekends dependent upon project schedule
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, walk, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Climb ladders of all types
  • Possess good vision, normal or corrected
  • Possess good hearing, normal or corrected
  • Must be able to speak and hear detailed information through oral communication
  • Must be able to write and talk
  • Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time
  • Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times
  • Must be able to work at extreme heights, in areas that are under construction, or in restricted areas such as a switchgear room, manhole, utility tunnel, crawl space, or attic, in confined spaces, and on slippery or uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to work inside or outside
  • Possible exposure to hot and cold temperatures, in all-weather elements such as rain, heat, cold and snow

Desired Qualifications

  • electrical, mechanical safety experience
  • Degree or extensive training in environmental health and safety discipline a plus
  • OSHA 510/511 preferred
  • Experience with construction workforce
  • Safety certifications in competency
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability and experience with presenting and training others
  • Ability to work independently, strong communication skills with the ability to influence behaviors
