Job Summary
Safety Coordinator I at a single location responsible for coordinating and managing safety programs to reduce occupational hazards and improve Fleet Safety. Develops and maintains a site-specific Safety Management Plan (SMP), conducts audits, and communicates SMP scores. Ensures investigations are thorough and corrective actions are implemented; collaborates with Human Resources on policy violations; coordinates safety initiatives, training, recordkeeping, and emergency planning; maintains OSHA records; analyzes occupational and environmental health data including chemical exposure, fumes, noise, and ergonomics; maintains hazard communications and MSDS; supports fleet safety programs; facilitates worker training on health, environmental compliance, and safety; performs other duties as assigned. Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree (preferred) and knowledge of OSHA, EPA, hazardous materials, and fleet safety. The role emphasizes analytical, problem-solving, technical, and communication skills, with a focus on safety management, documentation, and training within a manufacturing/building materials environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or equivalent (preferred)
- two to three years related experience and/or training preferred, but not required
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, hazardous materials, emergency preparedness and fleet safety
- Experience dealing with safety management procedures and policies may be substituted for formal education
- Able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to coordinate safety initiatives and training
- Knowledge of recordkeeping and OSHA reporting requirements
- Ability to supervise or coordinate safety programs at a single location
- Familiarity with safety policies and procedures and corrective action processes
- Experience with safety audits and inspections
- Ability to develop and administer safety plans and documentation
