Job Summary
Safety Coordinator in Columbus, OH overseeing on-site safety for roofing projects. Responsibilities include inspecting project work environments for safety infractions, enforcing OSHA standards and safety plans, providing training (including OSHA 10), developing safety orientations, assisting with pre-task safety planning, monitoring site safety plans and owner requirements, reporting unsafe conditions, taking safety observations with photos, and participating in off-hours high-risk activities. Requires ability to travel, stop work authority to remedy life-threatening safety deficiencies, and effective communication with project teams, vendors, and employees. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, roofing systems, and safety documentation; proficient in MS Office; High School Diploma or GED with three years in a commercial roofing environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED plus three years in a commercial roofing environment.
- Valid drivers license
- Intermediate level understanding and usage of MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
- Organized
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers, vendors, sub-contractors, and employees at all levels of the organization
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in the workplace
- Considerable knowledge of OSHA Standards as they pertain to construction and roofing.
- Considerable knowledge of various commercial roofing systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Good knowledge of Federal, State and local environmental, health and safety codes.
- Some knowledge of: construction site development; commercial construction, demolition, and remodel procedures.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, in English, and comprehend drawings and specifications, documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Strong verbal skills and ability to interact with all level of employees and management
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to compute rate, ratio.
