Job Summary
Safety Coordinator at the Dayton Job Corps Center is a full-time, on-site, student-facing role responsible for safety oversight, emergency preparedness, risk assessment, inspections, and safety training. Works with the Center Director, Career Technical Training teams, Work-Based Learning, and other departments to maintain compliance with Job Corps safety standards. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with two years of related experience (an Associate’s degree in criminal justice or industrial hygiene may substitute). Preferred backgrounds include safety/security, firefighting, law enforcement, or military service, plus experience working with youth. Key duties include testing alarms, developing safety plans, conducting risk assessments, leading safety inspections and drills, delivering training, reporting findings, and promoting a culture of safety and compliance; must be able to work on-site Monday–Friday with occasional late shift. Requires valid driver’s license, I-9 verification, and successful background/drug checks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Two years of related experience required
- Associate’s degree in criminal justice or industrial hygiene may substitute for experience
- One year of experience in safety/security, firefighting, law enforcement, or military preferred
- Experience working with youth preferred
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (if driving is required)
- I-9 documentation required to verify authorization to work in the U.S.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug test
