Safety Coordinator - Canton 109 (34268)

Job Summary

Conduct daily field walks to implement CECs safety programs, audit oversight, and regulatory compliance. Coach Crew Foremen on Operational Risk Management boards and Job Hazard Analyses, while photo-documenting completed ORM boards and submitting daily Site Safety Audit reports with findings and photographs. Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and new employee safety orientations. Perform periodic audits of power tools and equipment to ensure maintenance standards. Interact regularly with field personnel to address safety observations and enforce subcontractor compliance. Work day and/or night shifts, overtime, and weekends dependent on project schedules.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree or extensive training in environmental health and safety discipline
  • 1 - 3 years in construction safety experience
  • OSHA 30 Construction
  • CPR/FA Certified
  • Understanding of electrical industry construction and general industry consensus standards such as NFPA, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI
  • Ability and experience with presenting and training others
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence behaviors
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Bi-lingual
  • Extensive travel by vehicle
  • Significant work at construction sites, during all stages
  • Possible exposure to hot and cold temperatures, in all-weather elements such as rain, heat, cold and snow
  • Work at extreme heights
  • Work in areas that are under construction
  • Work in restricted areas such as a switchgear room, manhole, utility tunnel, crawl space, or attic
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Work on slippery or uneven surfaces
