Job Summary
Safety Consultant (Eastern Region) for North Carolina Department of Adult Correction delivers safety and industrial hygiene expertise across a large geographic area. Responsibilities include inspecting facilities, reviewing plans and specifications for new or renovated facilities, identifying unsafe conditions and safety violations, developing corrective solutions, performing periodic inspections, compiling reports with technical recommendations, consulting with management to implement corrective actions, conducting safety, health and hazardous materials training, educating personnel on hazards, and analyzing or advising on hazardous waste management and regulatory interpretations. The role also involves acting as a technical resource in a specialty area and may include other duties as assigned. Preferred candidates have experience with federal/state/local regulations (OSHA, NIOSH, NFPA, ANSI, ACGIH, NC building codes) and aBachelor’s degree with three years of relevant safety/health experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, industrial engineering, industrial management or technology, occupational safety, or one of the physical sciences or an equivalent technical degree
- minimum of three years of progressive occupational safety and health experience
- equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify
- certificates/licenses if applicable (as described)
