Job Summary
Implement safety programs and procedures to ensure compliance with State, Federal, and corporate regulations while leading OSHA and CDL initiatives at the division level. Analyze safety technology data and trend results to develop plans that reduce and prevent future incidents. Manage employee injury claims, coordinate with medical facilities for light duty placements, and oversee related audits for corporate, client, and regulatory agencies. Ensure all operators maintain current training requirements and that new hires meet minimum qualifications including background checks. Lead classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction according to specifications and maintain a consistent safety culture across operations, safety, and maintenance departments.
Required Qualifications
- Transit safety experience
- five (5) years experience working in paratransit
- preferably urban public
- Must hold CDL with a passenger endorsement
- Knowledge of all applicable safety rules, regulations - FTA, FMCSA, and DOT
- Knowledge of regulations and corporate safety programs and policies
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with all departments
- Ability to work independently and objectively
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to effectively delegate tasks and provide appropriate supervision and follow up to department staff
- Familiar with windows-based computer operating systems and Microsoft Office packages
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong Microsoft applications experience
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Valid driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- Previous passenger transportation in current project or similar environment
- Prefer CDS (Certified Director of Safety) and/or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) Designation
- Certifications according to local contract requirements
