Job Summary
Coordinate and support the district's comprehensive safety and security program, ensuring compliance with Texas Education Code, TEA requirements, and Texas School Safety Center standards. Lead implementation of emergency operations plans, conduct campus safety assessments, and manage security systems including access control and video surveillance. Facilitate emergency drills, tabletop exercises, and behavioral threat assessments while maintaining records for audits and reporting to the Board of Trustees. Respond to emergency situations outside normal hours as required. This 223-day administrative role involves working with law enforcement, emergency responders, and campus staff to maintain safe learning environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Knowledge of Texas Education Code and Texas Administrative Code related to school safety
- Knowledge of Texas School Safety Center standards, audit requirements, and best practices
- Knowledge of emergency operations planning and crisis management
- Knowledge of behavioral threat assessment requirements
- Knowledge of physical security systems including access control, video surveillance, visitor management, emergency notification, and panic alert systems
- Knowledge of emergency communications and incident command principles
- Ability to organize, coordinate, and prioritize multiple projects
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze safety data and prepare reports
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with district personnel, law enforcement, emergency responders, and community agencies
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in school safety, emergency management, law enforcement, public safety, military, education administration, or a related field
- FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) certifications
- Ability to respond to emergencies outside normal work hours
- Occasional evening and weekend work
- Ability to respond to emergencies outside normal working hours as required
- Occasional lifting and carrying of equipment up to 30 pounds
- Frequent travel throughout the district
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Educational Leadership, Homeland Security, or a related field
- Certification in Mid-Management/Principal
- Texas School Safety Center School Safety Certification
- Ability to obtain Texas School Safety Center School Safety Certification
- Ability to obtain FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) certifications within one year of employment
- Experience coordinating safety programs
- Experience conducting training and presentations
