Safety and Compliance Coordinator

Job Summary

Champion the implementation of the Safety Management System and conduct regular field inspections of facilities, contractors, and operations personnel. Review incident reports, provide recommendations, and lead investigations as required while promoting consistency in industrial hygiene, safety systems, and radiation control programs. Attend area and pre-job safety meetings, complete worksite safety observations, and provide coaching to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role supports operational leadership in identifying continuous improvement opportunities across Oil Sands operations on an 8 days on, 6 days off fly-in/fly-out rotation from Edmonton or Calgary.

Required Qualifications

  • Typically 5+ years of health and safety experience
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada without restrictions
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence
  • Required industry safety certifications
  • Successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including criminal record checks and drug and alcohol testing
  • Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restrictions
  • Subject to background checks including criminal and drug and alcohol testing

Desired Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Professional safety designation (NCSO, CRSP, CRST, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of applicable government legislation and industry best practices
  • Previous Oil & Gas experience
  • Previous mining or Oil Sands experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with operations, contractors, and leadership teams
