Job Summary
Develop and maintain a student network for open communication of potential problems before they occur. Investigate non-employee related incidents on school property and assist in coordinating school safety and security programs. Support administration with threat assessments, threat assessments, and maintaining a safe, orderly environment throughout the school. Serve as a liaison with police and fire departments, advise staff and students on safety matters, and counsel students on personal safety and well-being. Provide a security presence at home athletic events and extracurricular activities as needed. Participate in in-service training programs and ensure all activities conform to school system guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or possession of a general education development (GED) program certificate
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Law enforcement experience required
- Earns and maintains Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), CPR/First Aid & AED and all other certifications as required by Maryland law
- Experience working with children
- Experience in coordinating safety and security programs
- Ability to understand and communicate with both verbal and written skills
- Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to those responsibilities listed below
- Must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation
- Must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person
- Must successfully complete a drug screen
- Must report all former employment where direct contact with minors may have occurred
- Must submit contact information of current employer, all former school employers, and all former employers not school related
- Must submit contact information for organizations where the applicant has volunteered, coached, mentored, tutored or otherwise had direct contact with minors
