Job Summary
On-site Safety Advisor role supporting an active construction project, reporting to the HSE Manager. This fully site-based position requires regular on-site presence at active construction sites, collaborating with project team members, trades, and subcontractors to support safe construction operations. Responsibilities include enforcing the HSE Program on-site, conducting safety orientations, site inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and maintaining knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and project-specific safety requirements. The role involves coordinating with management and stakeholders, promoting safety performance, and ensuring compliance with company safety standards across all phases of construction activities. Proactive safety leadership and effective communication with project teams are key components.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Safety Advisor or similar role (CSO, HSE)
- Valid CSO certification recognized in British Columbia
- Advanced First Aid is mandatory or a current OFA 3 ticket
- Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and safety best practices
- Knowledge of BCCSA COR requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability and willingness to work full-time on active construction sites in varying weather and site conditions
- Site-based construction position requiring regular physical presence at project sites
- Must be able to travel between active project sites as operationally required
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment
- High attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills
- Ability to instill core safety values internally and to trade contractors
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal direction while leading by example
- Basic computer skills; Experience with Outlook, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is required
- Experience using Procore Management System is an asset
