Job Summary
Conduct regular job site inspections to monitor compliance with safety standards and assist in completing hazard assessments at planning and project stages. Report identified hazards, participate in incident and near-miss investigations, and support supervisors in implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Deliver site-specific safety orientations for new employees and subcontractors, support Tailgate Talks, and promote a strong safety culture by encouraging hazard reporting. Administer the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Program, maintain accurate safety records, and assist in preparing documentation for audits. Monitor trenching, excavation, and confined space activities while verifying proper use of PPE and adherence to safe operating procedures. Work closely with the Safety Manager, Superintendents, and field crews to integrate safety into daily operations and provide feedback to improve procedures. This contract position ends in November 2026 and requires regular travel to project and remote sites.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of safety experience in civil construction
- Demonstrated experience conducting hazard assessments, site inspections, and incident investigations
- Prior experience administering or supporting a company-wide HSE Program
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills for training and Tailgate Talks
- Advanced computer skills, including Excel and experience with safety management software
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and field crews
- Ability to travel to remote or project sites as required
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with at least three (3) years of driving experience (driver's abstract required)
