Safeguarding Manager, Youth Engagement

Job Summary

Conduct youth safeguarding subject-matter expertise by developing policies, standards, and prevention frameworks that protect under-18 participants across grassroots, community, and elite settings. Lead the design of inclusive learning assets and capacity-building tools for Member Organizations, while advising on safeguarding for youth national teams, disability programs, and talent identification events. Collaborate with the Reporting and Resolution team to ensure age-appropriate, accessible reporting systems and partner with Marketing and Legal to define consent and supervision for youth representation in media and events. Support recreation and schools programming to embed child-centered safety standards, focusing on emerging digital risks and trauma-informed practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Child Protection, Social Work, Education, Public Health, Sport Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 5 years in safeguarding, child protection, or minor welfare
  • hands-on experience designing and implementing prevention measures
  • delivering policy and education programs at scale
  • experience with safeguarding in a sporting environment
  • strong working knowledge of the U.S. child-protection landscape (U.S. Center for SafeSport and MAAPP requirements; state mandatory-reporting obligations)
  • demonstrated track record of building child-centered, youth-voice-led safeguarding culture
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering effective learning and training frameworks (digital, blended, and in-person) for varied audiences including young people
  • leveraging digital learning ecosystems (LMS, content delivery, learning analytics)
  • awareness of online-safety and digital-risk trends affecting young people
  • Proven ability to lead projects
  • influence across functions without direct authority
  • contribute to strategic decision-making
  • capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments
  • Excellent judgment, the ability to recognize risk and the limits of the role and escalate appropriately
