Job Summary
Safeguarding and Compliance Officer within Education Effectiveness develops safeguarding training for schools, coordinates and delivers training programmes, ensures courses are evaluated, and supports the Safeguarding and Compliance Lead. The role liaises with Safeguarding Unit staff, contributes to initiatives such as E-safety and work-related learning, and helps ensure compliance with safeguarding responsibilities across education settings. DBS check is required; effective communication, diplomacy and the ability to work flexibly and independently are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Degree, or higher education (eg GNVQ level 4/5), or relevant professional development or experience which would ensure powers of analysis and critical evaluation required to undertake the post.
- Have a working knowledge of child protection/safeguarding of children and young people in Education, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025;
- Have considerable experience of working with children and/or families. Have experience of inter-agency working to support children and/or families which should include educational settings; with knowledge of child protection guidance, processes and issues. with Ability to adapt flexibly to changing demands.
- Be able to work independently and with initiative; & Able to travel as part of the job, both within and beyond Leicestershire.
- Be able to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and tact, whilst applying knowledge of statutory education policy and procedure;
- Have effective communication skills both verbal and written, including presentation skills; Be energetic, well-motivated and flexible; Have a professional manner & plenty of common sense.
