You’ll cover events live at courthouses and state legislatures, develop analytical pieces on subjects like tax and legal developments, and build sources across industries. Collaboration with editors and reporters, meeting deadlines, and delivering clear, accessible reporting are essential.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with coursework in English or journalism preferred
  • 3-7 years’ experience in journalism, including daily reporting experience or demonstrated reporting proficiency and news judgment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of journalism principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of federal and state legislative, regulatory, and judicial processes
  • The ability to cover events live as they happen and meet with sources in person within the location being covered
