Job Summary
Plan, implement, and supervise a developmentally appropriate, fun, and enriching activity curriculum for camp groups throughout the summer. Manage all extended care activities, special events, and the performance of all staff along with the Extended Care Program Director. Maintain a clean, neat, and organized environment while ensuring the health, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of each child. Create and maintain a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for all program participants. Manage inventory of equipment and supplies, maintain all required records and logs, and attend monthly staff meetings. Respond quickly to policy violations and reports of suspicious behavior, adhering to mandatory reporting requirements and abuse risk management procedures. Work Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
Required Qualifications
- BA in Education, Child Development, Physical Education, Recreation or related field
- two years direct experience with children under age 13
- at least one year in a supervisory capacity
- School Age Childcare credential
- three years direct experience with children under age 13
- one year in a supervisory capacity
- Two years of college
- 18 credits in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field
- three years direct experience with children under age 13
- one year in a supervisory capacity
- Excellent human relations and communication skills
- strong organizational skills
- Clearance from a criminal background check
- Demonstrate verbally and by role modeling a sound knowledge of good teaching practices and of child growth and development
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and its capacity to develop youth
- ability to articulate and model the YMCA's four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
- get certified within 90 days of employment
