Job Summary
Plan, implement, and supervise a developmentally appropriate activity curriculum for camp groups while managing extended care activities and special events. Direct daily operations to ensure the health, safety, and secure environment of all children, maintaining clean and organized facilities. Lead staff performance, manage inventory, and conduct monthly staff meetings to foster positive relationships with parents. Adhere to abuse risk management protocols, including screening, training, and confidential reporting of suspicious behaviors. Follow all personnel policies, maintain required records and logs, and attend mandatory training.
Required Qualifications
- BA in Education, Child Development, Physical Education, Recreation or related field
- two years direct experience with children under age 13
- at least one year in a supervisory capacity
- School Age Childcare credential
- three years direct experience with children under age 13
- one year in a supervisory capacity
- Two years of college
- 18 credits in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field
- three years direct experience with children under age 13
- one year in a supervisory capacity
- Excellent human relations and communication skills
- strong organizational skills
- Clearance from a criminal background check
- Demonstrate verbally and by role modeling a sound knowledge of good teaching practices and of child growth and development
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and its capacity to develop youth
- The ability to articulate and model the YMCA's four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
- Must have a CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
- get certified within 90 days of employment
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- occasional travel to the various sites of the YMCA of Montclair
