Job Summary

Assure student attendance accuracy, carry out activity plans, and interact with children individually and in groups to meet special needs. Assist with program planning addressing social, emotional, physical, and cognitive requirements while maintaining a clean, safe, and inviting environment. Establish daily communication with parents, protect family privacy, and motivate students in both indoor and outdoor settings. Maintain a pleasant atmosphere using positive guidance techniques and attend all required meetings and staff development workshops.

Required Qualifications

  • CPR & First certification (infant, child, adult) - must maintain current certification status
  • Be able to pass a standard physical and TB test
  • Obtain State Police Criminal Clearance, Finger-print and Family Independence Agency clearance for Child Protective Services
  • Regular and reliable in person attendance
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and to interpret graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Personal computer skills necessary
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
  • Some extended hours

Desired Qualifications

  • Successful previous experience working with School-Age children in a large group setting, preferred
  • Willingness to complete at least 12 clock hours of annual training in Early Childhood Education
  • Working towards an Early Childhood Education Degree or CDA, preferred
  • Familiar with the Model Standards for Out-of-School Time, preferred
