Job Summary
Coordinate daily kitchen operations by liaising with the Chef de Partie to formulate priorities and acting in their absence when needed. Prepare high-quality dishes while maintaining strict food safety standards, minimizing wastage, and ensuring all staff adhere to established operating procedures. Assist in training junior staff members and supervise general or specialized cooking duties such as butchering, baking, or pastry work. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment across all hotel kitchens, including late nights and public holidays, while maintaining a clean, safe workspace and upholding professional grooming standards.
Required Qualifications
- Strong culinary knowledge and cooking techniques
- Flexibility to work across all hotel kitchens
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Leadership potential and ability to mentor junior staff
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
- Several years of experience in a commercial kitchen
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and cook a variety of dishes
- Availability to work a flexible roster across 7 days including late nights & Public Holidays
- You will need your own transport to get to work as we are not on a public transport route
- Must have the legal right to work in Australia
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working within a specific kitchen section is desirable
