Job Summary
Be an on-call relief Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier with Canada Post, delivering mail to various communities. Responsibilities include sorting, collecting and delivering mail items safely and timely; acquiring and maintaining knowledge of local infrastructure, roads and delivery receptacles; ensuring mail is secured; processing CPC products and services (Change of Address, Damaged Mail, Items Delivered Bill and others); wearing Canada Post identification while delivering and collecting mail; lifting and carrying items up to 50 lb/22.7 kg; operating a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions. Mandatory vehicle requirements include a vehicle with sufficient cargo capacity, automatic transmission, power windows, and appropriate setup for signage. The role is temporary on-call relief, based in Fonthill, Ontario, Canada, with potential to apply for upcoming permanent Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier positions. Language requirement: English essential.
Required Qualifications
- Have a satisfactory safe driving record (driver's abstract required)
- Possess a valid permanent provincial driver’s license - class 5 or G.
- Have experience in making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions
- Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50 lb/22.7 kg
- Automatic Transmission vehicle requirements listed in job description
- Provide and maintain automobile liability insurance for vehicle use
- Notify insurance company about vehicle use for Canada Post employment
