Job Summary
Conduct electrical and mechanical testing of HVAC units following installation to ensure compliance with product specifications and safety standards. Perform pretest, dry test, and run test protocols including verifying components against BOMs, executing high-voltage Hi Pot testing, and calibrating sensors and safety devices. Operate equipment such as multimeters, leak detectors, and balancing machines while documenting results on data sheets and troubleshooting failures. Investigate causes of defects, adjust gas valves and refrigerant charges, and notify engineering when units are ready for shipment. Adhere to strict safety rules and energy control programs while maintaining clean work areas and meeting production schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Computer Skills: excel, lotus notes
- Skilled and experienced with using power, air and hydraulic operated tools common to the trade
- Capability of reading circuit diagrams and schematics, ladder logic diagrams and layout drawings
- Ability to troubleshoot circuits and devices and recommend changes or improvements
- Complete knowledge of refrigeration operation systems: charging and weighting of refrigerant charges
- Understands electrical theory and practice as applied to the operation of such components as electric motors, motor starters, contractors, control relays, time delay relays, circuit breakers, fusing, PLC's, fluid flow and temperature sensors, and other related electrical, pneumatic and mechanical components
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
