Job Summary
Product Engineer for the Ethos ESG platform in Durham, NC on a hybrid schedule (2 days per week in the office). Design, develop, and maintain robust Ruby on Rails applications with a focus on performance and scalability. Build and maintain RESTful APIs, design and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, and migrations. Deploy and monitor applications on AWS (ECS, EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch). Participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and debug production issues with QA/product teams. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, mentor junior team members, and share knowledge across the team.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails
- Proficiency with SQL
- Hands-on experience deploying and maintaining applications on AWS (ECS, EC2, RDS, S3)
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design and development
- Experience writing automated tests (RSpec or similar)
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and integration with Rails views or API consumers
- Proficiency with Git and experience working in a collaborative pull-request workflow
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a distributed team spanning multiple time zones
