Rubber Mixing Production Supervisor
On-siteFort Wayne, Indiana, United States
Job Summary
The Rubber Mixing Production Supervisor leads the day-to-day operation of the compounding department, ensuring that every batch is mixed to specification, on schedule, and with full traceability. It’s a hands-on leadership role on the floor responsible for output, quality, safety, and the development of the mixing team. The role owns department scheduling, builds and maintains written work instructions and batch/process cards, trains operators against standards, and ensures adherence to current procedures. The goal is a consistent mixing operation where knowledge is captured in written procedures rather than in individuals’ heads, with emphasis on throughput, yield, on-time delivery, and traceability. Responsibilities include training and operator development, creating/maintaining SOPs, documenting mixing parameters, setting up changeovers, auditing adherence, coaching performance, and coordinating with QA/engineering on issues, trials, and disposition of nonconforming batches, while maintaining accurate production records and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of supervisor, supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment; rubber, plastics, chemical, or process-batch manufacturing strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of rubber mixing/compounding equipment and processes (internal mixers, two-roll mills, weigh-up/batching) or demonstrated ability to learn process-driven production quickly
- Proven ability to write clear procedures and work instructions and to train others against them
- A track record of holding a team accountable while keeping it engaged — direct without being abrasive
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
