Job Summary
RS Upholstery Tech II for 1st shift (GAC Appleton). Fabricate and install upholstery, cover panels, and make simple patterns for aircraft interiors from design/engineering drawings and aircraft specifications. Work with fabric, vinyl and leather hides, composites, and other materials using specified adhesives, sewing equipment, hardware, hand tools and power tools. Cut and surge carpets, cover bulkheads and panels; fabricate metal parts and fit panels/windows; use the material tracking system to create parts demand and sign-off work. Collaborate with lead and higher-skilled technicians on process improvements using Lean Manufacturing to increase safety and reduce cycle time. Essential Functions include: Fabricate and install flat panels and curtains per drawings/specs; sew simple covers; operate sewing equipment; read and interpret blueprints; work with wood, metal, and composites; document parts in the tracking system; maintain safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies; support other duties as assigned. Must read/write/speak English; able to read blueprints and engineering docs; able to measure and perform basic math; must be computer literate; physical ability to climb ladders, work in restricted areas, and lift up to 40 pounds. First shift; full-time; aerospace industry experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years experience using commercial sewing machines, sergers and/or various hand tools used in upholstery and carpet trades
- Experience in aerospace industry
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand proficiently the English language
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation
- Ability to use measuring tools and perform basic math computations
- Must be computer literate
- Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds
- This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
