Job Summary
Respiratory Therapists are responsible for performing cardiopulmonary treatments and services to patients, including taking vital signs, assessing and monitoring patients' cardiopulmonary status, and CPR. They will perform various therapies such as aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, and ventilator management. The role requires proficiency in numerous procedures, handling medical equipment, and maintaining safety standards. Effective communication skills and the ability to work under stress are essential. Adherence to hospital policies and continuous education is required, along with maintaining appropriate certifications.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (May be allowed to sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6-months)
- Completion of an Approved Respiratory Therapy Program
- Licensure by the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of NBRC Therapist Multiple-Choice Exam, or equivalent, earning CRT or RRT credentials
- BLS Provider or equivalent knowledge; ACLS provider or obtains within 6 months of employment; PALS provider certified strongly recommended
