Job Summary

Perform patient assessments, respiratory care procedures for adult and neonatal units, and manage blood gas analysis and interpretation. Deliver patient and family education while maintaining equipment including GE Carescape R860 vents, Servo I vents, and HFOV systems. Provide respiratory support in Labor and Delivery, attend deliveries, and assist with bronchoscopy using Glidescope disposables. Conduct pulmonary function testing and perform inpatient EKGs across acute care floors. Maintain competency in intubation and A-line insertion after department-specific training. Work nights in the NICU, adult ICU, and medical/surgical units at Piedmont Eastside.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy Sciences
  • Previous Working Experience in Neonatal Respiratory care, or successful completion of department specific orientation including skills validation of competencies for the duties and responsibilities of this level
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care and licensed by the State Board of Medical Examiners
  • Current certifications in BCLS, ACLS, and NRP
  • Must be actively practicing and maintaining all required competencies in both adult and neonatal areas
  • Must be able to intubate and insert A-lines
  • Must be available for nights
  • Must be able to attend deliveries and care for babies who are admitted to the NICU receiving respiratory care
  • Must be able to perform outpatient and inpatient PFTS
  • Must be able to perform inpatient EKGs
  • Must be able to manage GE Carescape R860 vents, Servo I vents, Drager VN500 and HFOV NICU vents, Phillips V60, Bubble CPAP, REMstar CPAP, Smart Vest, and Airvo
  • Must be able to perform bronchoscopy assistance with Glidescope disposable bronchs
  • Must be able to perform blood gas analysis and interpretation
  • Must be able to perform patient assessments, general and critical care respiratory care procedures
  • Must be able to perform respiratory care for newborns in Labor and Delivery
  • Must be able to perform maintenance and management of equipment
  • Must be able to perform patient and family education in both adult and neonatal areas
