Job Summary
RPN/LPN position in Extendicare's Canadian long-term care network. Responsibilities include providing nursing care in accordance with established standards and physician orders, observing and recording vital signs, assisting in assessing residents, developing and evaluating care plans, monitoring health and changes in condition, and referring to physicians as needed. Requires current provincial certificate of competence and registration, with preferred managerial experience in long-term care or community homecare. Must demonstrate knowledge of nursing/h health practices and infection control, strong communication skills, and the ability to document clearly and think critically within a team-focused, resident-centered environment. Required Qualifications
- Appropriate current certificate of competence from the Approved Institutions for the province
- Registration or eligible for registration with the Approved Institutions for the province
- Previous managerial experience in long-term care or community homecare preferred
- Experience dealing with the cognitively impaired
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices
- Knowledge in Infection Control Practices
- Ability to present information clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Active listening with friendly demeanor
- Ability to collect and use information to think through problems and generate creative solutions
- Organizational, planning and multi-tasking skills
