Job Summary
Royalty Accountant (6 months contract) in Manila, Philippines for Universal Music Group. Responsibilities include preparing and distributing half-yearly royalty statements for songwriters and partners, managing royalty advances, submitting monthly income schedules, reconciling royalty cash receipts, tracking debtor lists and payment statuses, coordinating with licensing for invoice generation, releasing works from the Suspense Account, ensuring proper tax treatment and withholding forms, maintaining master data for writers and contracts in royalty systems, generating reports for Finance/Legal/Global Publishing, assisting in audits, and identifying process improvements to enhance royalty reporting and analysis. Required: accounting degree or diploma preferred, minimum 3 years in finance/accounting, proficiency in Excel and copyright databases, strong communication skills, and familiarity with royalty and publishing workflows.
Required Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Accounting is preferred
- Minimum of 3 years in finance or accounting—experience in the music industry is a bonus
- Excel proficiency and experience with copyright databases
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with royalty reporting and publishing workflows
- Ability to maintain audit trails and support documentation
- Attention to detail and analytical mindset
- Comfort with processing royalties, advances, and tax forms
