Rowing: Head Crew Coach

Job Summary

Coach individual participants in rowing skills and develop organized written practice plans with daily warm-up and cool-down procedures. Maintain accurate records of team lists, injury reports, scores, and incident reports while overseeing safety conditions at the facility. Be present at every practice and contest to supervise weight rooms, locker rooms, and showers, enforcing discipline and sportsmanship. Provide guidance and counseling on scholastic achievement and college entrance, determine athlete academic eligibility, and recommend equipment purchases. Organize daily schedules, instruct youth clinics, and work with community members to encourage participation. Attend Athletic Department meetings to stay informed on rule changes and trends.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of crew and its rules
  • Ability to instruct players in all facets of the sport
  • Evidence of ability to get along with pupils, parents, colleagues, and other citizens
  • CPR Certification

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous crew coaching experience
  • Previous experience in either high school, college or both
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college
  • Completion of the MIAA Coaches Education Class and/or other requirements by the MIAA
