Job Summary
Route Sales Representative role delivering hard goods and gas cylinders along a scheduled Asheville, NC route, with direct face-to-face customer interactions, warehouse duties, and required safety/compliance responsibilities. Responsibilities include loading, delivering, unloading shipments, maintaining load manifests, monitoring customer needs, operating warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jack), maintaining vehicle and safety standards per DOT/OSHA, carrying a Class A CDL with HazMat endorsements, performing counter sales when necessary, assisting in-store duties, and supporting inventory and showroom tasks. Key skills include customer service, sales aptitude, ability to work independently, strong time management, effective communication, physical ability to lift heavy loads, outdoor/variable-temperature work, and adherence to safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
- Class A CDL with HazMat endorsement preferred
- Industry and related product knowledge, as well as experience handling compressed gases preferred
- Customer service or sales experience preferred
- Must be at least 21 years-old
- Must meet all physical qualification standards imposed by regulation for truck drivers
- Excellent oral communication skills, ability to work independently, self-motivated, and ability to pay attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent time-management skills
- Excellent driving record
- Ability to routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying temperatures
- Ability to perform functions during occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling and finger activities. Frequent bending also required
- Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace
