Job Summary
Route Driver delivers and picks up freight from customers and shippers, inspects and reports mechanical problems with the vehicle, loads the truck to maximize space and prevent damage, and may collect payments for certain packages. Responsibilities include verifying content on shipping papers, notifying management of discrepancies, maintaining a professional appearance, and performing other related duties. Requires ability to operate a manual transmission (or willingness to learn), strong customer service, and ability to work independently. Must be at least 21 with a valid driver’s license and able to pass a DOT physical, with the physical capacity to bend, twist, climb stairs, and lift up to 100 pounds. Overtime is common (10-15 hours weekly; overtime time-and-a-half after 40 hours; voluntary OT on weekends). Starting wage is $20.00-$24.00/hour (based on experience); under 21: $19.00-$21.00/hour.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid Driver's License with good driving record
- DOT physical ability
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds
- At least 21 years of age
