Job Summary
Route Driver to operate trash collection and rammer/packer trucks on an assigned residential route in Marietta, GA. Responsibilities include driving and loading garbage and brush, supervising crew to ensure safety and efficiency, completing daily route summaries and reports, performing routine maintenance, and possibly covering other divisions during heavy workloads. Must be able to drive with a trailer, lift loads up to 100 pounds, and pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen. New hires may work as relief drivers until a regular route is assigned, and tasks may include picking up dead animals and assisting with various related duties.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a Class B Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- satisfactory seven-year driving history including no DUI’s in last 5 years
- Ability to lift and carry loads weighing approximately 35 to 100 pounds several times daily
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English clearly; read and understand verbal instructions; add and subtract whole numbers; carry out simple instructions
- Ability to fill out a daily route summary sheet, write charge tickets, and violation notices to customers
- Ability to communicate with Environmental Services employees and be courteous to customers
- Knowledge of operation of a garbage packer
- Ability to use simple hand tools (shovel, rake)
- Pre-employment physical examination
- Drug screen
- New hires may work as relief driver and learn to operate rammer truck with trailer
- Discretion to perform duties in other divisions during heavy workload or special events
