Job Summary
Deliver correct, diet-compliant meals to patients in a professional, efficient manner while serving as the primary representative for the Food and Nutrition Services Department on patient floors. Instruct patients on meal ordering systems, obtain orders, and transfer them into the FNS technology system via tablet. Assess patient capabilities to utilize the order system and alert clinical dietitians or nurses when further education is needed. Retrieve completed meals from rooms timely and mediate patient concerns regarding meal service. Communicate concisely with other departments to address patient support, issues, and special requests. Serve as the patient advocate for food services, ensuring high-quality service for patients, employees, and visitors.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Food Handler's Permit required by Madison County
- Must be able to instruct patients on the meal ordering system
- Must be able to assist patients with placing their meal orders within the limitations of the physician prescribed diet
- Must be able to provide basic information to a patient regarding their physician prescribed diet
- Must be able to alert the patient's Clinical Dietitian and/or Nurse when further education or assessment is needed
- Must be able to deliver the correct menu (diet compliant) to the patient
- Must be able to obtain meal orders from patients
- Must be able to transfer the meal order into the FNS technology system via a tablet
- Must be able to serve meals for patients in a professional and efficient manner
- Must be able to retrieve completed meals from patient rooms in a timely manner
- Must be able to mediate patient concerns regarding meal service
- Must be able to communicate with members of other departments effectively and concisely regarding patient support, issues, requests and other special situations
- Must be able to assume the role of patient advocate regarding food services
- Must be available for post offer, pre-employment drug testing
