Job Summary
Operates a roof bolter in underground coal mining, adhering to site-specific safety requirements and company policies. Responsible for assessing conditions during the roof bolting cycle, scaling top rock and ribs, determining when supplemental support is needed, and executing bolt sequences per the Approved Roof Control Plan. Maintains proper face ventilation (permanent and temporary controls) and loads/unloads materials as required. Performs other duties as needed. Requires understanding of section ventilation, cable handling procedures, Safe Job Procedures, SOPs, and applicable safety regulations; must possess dexterity to operate machinery in variable coal seam heights and remain attentive to changing geological conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Underground coal miner's certificate
- Annual 8 hour refresher training
- On-the-job experience
- Vocational training (optional)
- Other qualifications as required by contract, regulations, and/or management
