Job Summary
Romanian Reviewer/Editor/Certifier for DOJ LSS: supports translation, interpretation, and transcription of legal and multifaceted material in English and Romanian; handles documents and media formats (written, electronic, audio/video) with highly specialized terminology across domains; requires strict confidentiality, adherence to linguist ethics, and proficiency with CAT tools (SDL Trados Studio); 5+ years of relevant experience, ILR 4, U.S. residency in the past 5 years, U.S. citizenship, and a Public Trust or higher clearance; remote work option with National Capital Region/CONUS locations; some travel.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the required language with superior English/editing skills
- ILR 4 minimum or equivalent on language/translation tests
- Must have lived 3 of the last 5 years in the U.S.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience with a law enforcement and/or legal department
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Knowledge of English and foreign language vocabularies in formal, diplomatic, and casual contexts
- Knowledge of specialized vocabulary in English and the foreign language related to Government missions
- Native fluency in the non-native language with professional command of English
- Translation must be factually and conceptually accurate, preserving tone and register
- Adherence to linguist ethics
- Proficiency with Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, especially SDL Trados Studio
- Active Public Trust or higher security clearance
- Location: Remote / National Capitol Region / Various CONUS Locations
- Some travel may be required
