Job Summary
Operate and maintain roll grinding equipment (WS600, WS300), plan daily shop activities, install and document roll specs, coordinate with rolling mills, perform preventive maintenance, monitor with SPC, ensure safety around overhead cranes, attend required environmental training, assist with assembly/disassembly of rolls, and work 10–12 hour shifts at the Nash, TX location. Also conducts inspections of grinders and cranes and documents specifications for finish, size, crown and uniformity.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a self-starter, take initiative to complete all tasks, use good judgment in exercising daily duties and ensure safety of fellow workers.
- Must be able to use precision type instruments, micrometer, dial indicator, micro-tester and Pro-Mic Roll Profile System.
- Must be able to direct people to complete shop related tasks.
- Ability to coordinate and communicate with other departments, use a computer, calculator, hand tools and overhead crane.
- Follow all plant policies, departmental and plant safety policies and use Standard Operating Procedures set up by the department.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to understand and communicate written and verbal instructions.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Must have mechanical abilities, pass the required testing
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening and drug screen
